Task 4 - Focus Group

An email was sent to companies like Anchovy, Brandwgn and the MCAST Marketing team so that we could meet and hold a focus group. This focus group will help us to improve our exhibition.

Before we sent the emails my team met up at school to write down some questions that will be asked after showing the focus groups our pitch presentation. And also, decided each persons role in the day of the focus group.

Focus Group Questions;

  1. Do you think that the students have been given the level of priority which they deserve?
  2. Do you think that the USP (Unique Selling Proposition) will prove to be beneficial in the long run?
  3. In your opinion, is the style of design present within the brand adequate to that seen in the proposed poster designs for the event?
  4. The Promotional Team focused not only on gaining funds through events but we have also offered to do voluntary work in order to gain good publicity and exposure. Should more events like these be present throughout?
  5. Throughout our idea generation stages, we have come up with several means of gaining funds, do you think that they are all feasible and suitable?
  6. Do you think we’ve created something that is engaging with the viewer? Would you, personally interact and feel encouraged to be a part of this event?
  7. Do you have any examples of what type of strategies you thought worked or how to go about an excellent marketing scheme?
  8. Apart from vouchers or printed material, part of our aim is to promote students work. In today’s world how would you promote a students work in a way that people will surely interact?

  12. Given your experience and what you know now about our brand is there anything specifi regarding marketing material you think we should add?

MCAST Marketing Team (my feedback report);

On the 21st of January, 2019 an email was sent to Christine Cachia, a staff member from the MCAST Marketing Team. This email included the booklet attachment it contained the entire strategy that will take place throughout the festival and the reasoning behind the propositions. Also, some questions were asked to gain feedback.

Christine Cachia had agreed that the students should be at forefront of our activities and promotion. She then offered us to help us with anything relates too TV, radio and newspaper interviews.

Chirstine suggested us to draft one sentence that brings all the elements of our USP together, and keep this sentence as our mission statement and feature it prominently in our proposals and presentations. She also,agreed on us doing voluntery work. However, for fund-sourcing, we should map out the costs of putting this event together and compare it with funding we are likely to receive from our sponsors and promotional events. She suggested that we should approach as many potential sponsors as possible with a proposal using the design and artwork in the plan we sent to her.

Finally, she recommended to ensure the content is proof-read before sent through to sponsors and external stakeholders.
